Poplar Surfaced Lumber

Poplar has creamy white sapwood and the heartwood varies from a pale yellow-brown to olive green.  The green cast tends to darken and turn brown with exposure to light.  Poplar is easy to work with and due to its low density poplar can leave fuzzy surfaces when shaping and sanding.  Finer grit sand paper may be needed to achieve a smooth surface.  Origin: Eastern United States.  Common uses: Pallets, crates, upholstered furniture frames.
