Poplar Lumber has creamy white sapwood and the heartwood varies from a pale yellow-brown to olive green. The green cast tends to darken and turn brown with exposure to light. Poplar Lumber is easy to work with and due to its low-density poplar can leave fuzzy surfaces when shaping and sanding. Finer grit sandpaper may be needed to achieve a smooth surface. Common uses of poplar: furniture, kitchen cabinets, doors, exterior trim, siding, paneling, moldings, and millwork.
