TEAK, BURMESE

Size: 5/4 x 6-8.5' TEAK, BURMESE

Product Overview

Burmese Teak Lumber (Imported Woods) is a prized hardwood renowned for its durability and rich color. Its heartwood typically ranges from golden to medium brown, darkening over time. While the grain is generally straight, wavy or interlocked patterns may occasionally occur. The wood has a coarse, uneven texture and a moderate to low natural luster. A distinctive feature of Burmese Teak is its slightly oily or greasy feel due to natural oils present in the raw, unfinished wood.

Renowned for its decay resistance, Burmese Teak's heartwood is rated as very durable. It is also resistant to termites but only moderately resistant to marine borers and powder post beetles. Despite its natural oils, the wood is generally easy to work and glues and finishes well. However, in some cases, wiping the surface with a solvent prior to gluing or finishing may be necessary to reduce the natural oils. Burmese Teak Lumber is widely used in various applications, including ship and boatbuilding, veneer, furniture, exterior construction, carving, turnings, and other small wood objects. Its exceptional durability, attractive appearance, and versatile nature make it a highly sought-after hardwood.
