Domestic Tennessee cedar wood has a warm, reddish-brown heartwood with a pale yellow sapwood. With age, the heartwood darkens and takes on a richer, more mahogany-like appearance. Tight, straight grain with a few knots. The knots are frequently praised for their aesthetic value. It has a Janka value of 950 lbf, indicating that it is a moderately hard and strong wood. 34-39 lbs/ft3, providing excellent stability and durability.
