Edensaw Woods (
edensaw.com), your premier local marine plywood and panel supplier and local richlite supplier in Port Townsend-Tacoma, Washington, is dedicated to meeting the demanding needs of builders across Seattle-Port Townsend-Tacoma and the nearby Pacific Northwest region. We specialize in providing a vast and reliable selection of top-quality
wood panels and plywood, ensuring durability and finish for cabinet, flooring, and boat building applications.
Our prefinished birch plywood is a high-efficiency solution for professionals. It comes ready to cut and assemble, featuring a durable, clear UV coating applied in a controlled environment. This eliminates the lengthy and labor-intensive steps of sanding, sealing, and finishing, ensuring a consistent, high-quality, professional look on every piece, especially for cabinet interiors and drawer boxes. The initial investment in prefinished material is often offset by the significant labor savings realized in your shop and on the job site.
Technical specifications and characteristics:
- Prefinished Coating: Features a commercial-grade, clear UV finish (often acrylic or polyurethane) that is tough, scratch-resistant, and non-yellowing. This finish guarantees consistent color and gloss across multiple sheets, a level of quality difficult to achieve with on-site finishing.
- Janka Hardness Rating: Birch (Yellow Birch veneer) has an average rating of 1260 lbf. The hard UV coating further enhances surface durability.
- Color/Appearance: The birch veneer is a pale white or creamy yellow-brown, preserved and enhanced by the clear coat for a clean, bright, and uniform look.
- Grain/Texture: Fine, even texture with a straight grain. The coating highlights the natural grain while providing a perfectly smooth, ready-to-use surface.
- Rot Resistance: The veneer itself is perishable. However, the high-quality, sealed finish provides excellent moisture resistance on the surface, making it ideal for kitchen and bathroom cabinetry interiors (though it is not a marine product).
- Workability: Excellent. It cuts cleanly with proper tooling, eliminating the risk of finish bleed-through or sanding mistakes inherent in site-applied finishes. The exposed core edges accept edge banding or paint easily for a finished look.
- Odor: Little to no odor after the curing process of the UV finish.
- Sustainability: Sourcing is generally sustainable, and the efficiency of the prefinished product reduces on-site waste and chemical exposure.
- Common Uses: Cabinet interiors and cases, drawer boxes, shop fixtures, closet systems, and architectural millwork where a durable, clean white/light interior is desired.
We stock various core constructions to ensure the panel matches your project's specific requirements for weight, strength, and stability:
- MDF Core: Provides the flattest panel and is highly stable, making it ideal when a perfectly smooth, veneer-friendly surface is critical.
- Multi-ply Veneer Core: Offers excellent screw-holding power and strength, often preferred for cabinet boxes and structural components.
- Thickness and Size: We stock standard 4-ft x 8-ft panels in common thicknesses ranging from 1/4-in to 3/4-in for immediate availability.
