Shop Cherry Plywood & Panels (Prefinished)
Edensaw Woods (edensaw.com) is your specialized local rough sawn & surfaced lumber supplier and a leading local imported lumber and wood supplier, providing high-quality materials to craftsmen across Seattle-Port Townsend-Tacoma and the nearby Pacific Northwest region. Located in Port Townsend-Tacoma, Washington, our prefinished cherry plywood is a core product that saves time and labor by providing a ready-to-install decorative surface, ideal for visible components in casework and interiors.
Prefinished cherry plywood features a genuine cherry veneer that has been professionally sealed and protected at the factory with a durable clear coat. This process eliminates the lengthy steps of sanding and finishing, ensuring a consistent, flawless finish superior to most site-applied alternatives. This high-efficiency product saves time, labor, and costs on your projects. Technical specifications and characteristics:- Janka Hardness Rating: Cherry (American Black Cherry veneer) has an average rating of 950 lbf. This moderate density is ideal for stability in casework and furniture components.
- Color/Appearance: Heartwood starts pinkish-brown and darkens significantly to a rich reddish-brown or mahogany color under the clear coat, accelerating the beautiful aging process cherry is known for. The clear coat provides guaranteed finish consistency.
- Grain/Texture: Fine, uniform texture with a straight grain and a satiny luster. The coating seals the surface, which contains the small, natural gum pockets often present in cherry.
- Rot Resistance: The veneer itself is perishable. The clear coat provides surface protection, but the plywood is intended strictly for interior architectural millwork and furniture.
- Workability: Excellent. The surface cuts cleanly with sharp tooling, though we recommend using a scoring blade or cutting with the finished side up on a table saw to prevent chipping the hard prefinished layer.
- Odor: Little to no characteristic odor after the UV finish has cured.
- Sustainability: American Black Cherry is a domestically sourced, sustainable hardwood choice. The prefinished nature reduces the use of volatile organic compounds (vocs) on the job site.
- Common Uses: High-end cabinetry and case goods (faces and doors), architectural paneling, corporate offices, and fine furniture where time savings and a perfect finish are critical.
- MDF Core: Provides the flattest panel and is highly stable, making it ideal when a perfectly smooth, veneer-friendly surface is critical.
- Multi-ply Veneer Core: Offers excellent screw-holding power and strength, often preferred for cabinet boxes and structural components.
- Matching Accessories: We also stock pre-glued cherry veneer edge banding that perfectly matches the veneer and is ready to be applied, ensuring a seamless finish on exposed edges.
- Thickness and Size: We stock standard 4-ft x 8-ft panels in common thicknesses ranging from 1/4-in to 3/4-in for immediate availability.
- Janka Hardness Rating: Cherry (American Black Cherry veneer) has an average rating of 950 lbf. This moderate density is ideal for stability in casework and furniture components.
